Where did the name Imogen come from?
Search: imogen
Why: Heard some Imogen Heap today on Morning Becomes Eclectic.
Answer: The name was probably created by Shakespeare for a character in Cymbeline (first produced 1611). It is similar to Innogen, a Gaelic name derived from the word Inghean, "maiden" or "daughter."
In 2007, Imogen was the 34th most popular name for baby girls in England and Wales and the 35th most popular in Australia.

The More You Know: Peeps believes "Imogen" was just a typo (except with quill-and-ink on parchment) that was never changed. The name Innogen is mentioned as a ghost character in Much Ado About Nothing.
