Why: On "I Didn't Know I Was Pregnant," Jessica the EMT said 2 weeks before she delivered (unexpectedly!), she had to use the "jaws of life" to get 4 people out of a car crash.
Answer: They are hydraulic rescue tools, used by emergency rescue teams to assist vehicle extraction of crash victims, as well as other rescues from small spaces. These tools include cutters, spreaders, and rams. "Jaws of Life" is a trademark of Hale Products Inc., invented by Hurst Performance. They were named after co-inventor Jack Allen Watson (JAW).
