WTF? Biblical folks wore sandals made of porpoise skin?

Search
: sandals of porpoise skin

Why: A classmate quoted God in Ezekiel:
"I bathed you with water, washed off your blood from you and anointed you with oil. I also clothed you with embroidered cloth and put sandals of porpoise skin on your feet; and I wrapped you with fine linen and covered you with silk."
Answer: It's true. Porpoise or dolphin skins were used for a number of purposes. Sandals were often made with seal skin soles and porpoise leather straps. The source was either from their own capabilities as fishermen or from trade with those who had porpoise leather to exchange.

Also, Bible translators have variously translated the Hebrew word for the animal skin used to cover the Ark of the Covenant as “badger skin, “goatskin," “porpoise skin," “sealskin," “leather," “fine leather," “violet skins," and “tahash leather.”
