What are common triggers for narcolepsy?

Why: 2PzNaPpod posted a video of this poor little narcoleptic puppy who falls asleep whenever he gets jazzed about anything, even food:

Answer: Narcoleptic people are just tired all the time (and, by the way, they don't sleep well at night). BUT! Most also experience cataplexy, which occurs in episodes that typically last less than 30 seconds. Attacks may involve a buckling of the knees, sagging facial muscles, weakness in the jaws and neck, or can affect the entire body. A patient may be entirely alert during an episode, but unable to move or speak.

Cataplexy is most often brought on by emotional triggers. The leading cause is laughter, but others include funny stories, surprise, excitement, happy memories, and in rare instances, anger and fear.
