Why: Seems like the folks at 2Pz have been talking about Teener a lot lately. This is one of my favorite songs from the "Soul Spectacular" 4 disc box set that I swiped from my dad.

The More You Know: Things that didn't actually work out fine include Ike & Tina's marriage. When this song was released, they were touring as the Ike & Tina Turner Revue, even though he was still married to another woman. They married in 1962. He did a lot of coke and regularly beat the crap out of her. She left him a few times over the years, and they finally divorced in 1978. Ike was married a few more times after that, and he died of a cocaine overdose in 2007. Tina's spokesman issued this heartfelt statement:
Tina hasn’t had any contact with Ike in more than 30 years. No further comment will be made.
