How often do heart attacks go undetected?

Search: undetected heart attacks in women

Why: Susanne's left boob aches on the top and inside. Danger?

Answer: In a 2006 study done by European Heart Journal with 4,000 participants:
  • In people aged 55 and older, 43% of heart attacks happened unrecognized until an incidental EKG was done, which showed evidence that one had occurred.
  • A third of the men's heart attacks went undetected without EKG
  • More than half (54%) of the women's heart attacks went undetected

The More You Know: That boob pain could be from putting pressure on it while sleeping, growing pains, or clusters of tissue. Have your doctor poke them next time you go in.
