Why do people say "Yegads"?

Why: Charisse just said it. She's 9 minutes late to a meeting. Also, I think it's used pretty often in "The Far Side" (though I can't find any examples, so maybe it's another comic).

Answer: Yegads (or "egads" or "egad") just means "Oh, God." It's a term from the 60s... the 1660s.
